Set-up or tear down any size grand piano by attaching the tilter to the existing lyre attachment points – single or two point style.
The Moondog grand piano tilter utilizes the traditional single-point Steinway (New York or Hamburg) styled keyed plates or the Asian two-point style lyre attachment system to connect firmly to the keybed, enabling the user to easily tilt the piano from or onto the skidboard without fear of “tilter dislodge”.
In addition to the ease of use and firm attachment to the grand piano, the Moondog grand piano tilter enables the user to attach or remove the base leg without the assistance of a second person.
See a sneak preview at the Pacific Northwest Conference on March 4th 2010 and an industry presentation this summer at the annual Piano Technicians Guild Convention in Las Vegas.
The tilter comes with the following:
Traditional, New York Steinway style locking plates (3 sizes), including the new, New York Steinway style locking plate, and the Hamburg Steinway style locking plate which is also used on many European built pianos.
Thread sizes of ½”, 3/8”, 14mm, 12mm, 10mm, 8mm, for two-point system.
A two point span memory system enabling the user to set the span distance for a quick repeat usage of the same piano or brand of piano.
The Moondog tilter is made of strong 6061 aluminum, weighs just less than 17 lb., and is less than 2ft. square by 6” deep. The tilter can easily be carried into the home and is friendly to delicate floors.
The Moondog grand piano tilter has been in use for 5 years by a well known Northwest performance piano rental company and has received positive reports for its innovativeness.
If you’re a piano, technician, dealer or mover, this tool is a must. When used in conjunction with the upcoming (summer 2011) “dead weight” piano lift, it will be possible for one person to tear down a grand piano and place onto a dolly.
